Adidas Originals' SS14 Brazilian Collaboration

If the Topshop x Adidas Originals collection wasn't quite enough excitement for one week, the Adidas Originals Brazilian collaboration launches TODAY!! The sports fashion giants have collaborated with Brazilian fashion brand The Farm Company to create a collection that will blur the lines between sportswear and street style. Get a feel for the collection below! xx

Topshop x Adidas Originals

Topshop have collaborated with Adidas Originals to launch a 20 piece collection available online and in-store now! The collection was launched two days ago and some items have already completely sold out. Ebay is going to be a busy little sports fashion bee for the next couple of weeks! I love the cutie hearts and cartoon graffiti splattered across the range and the colour scheme is definitely a winner.

Have a peek at some of my faves below and be sure to check out the full collection in any large Topshop store! xx

First Shoot of Spring

About 10 minutes ago I received the images from my shoot with the very talented photographer Saheed Abdul and I just couldn't wait to share them with you! This sports fashion inspired shoot is my first location shoot of Spring. Check out the images below...

I'll be working with Saheed again very soon and I'm beyond excited. As always I'll make sure to post the results up here! Saheed's work can be viewed at iamhelios5th.tumblr.com  xx

Brand Watch: Skinnydip London

You may or may not recognise the Skinnydip London name, but chances are that you will have seen some of their products floating around the high street! Best known for their hard-to-ignore jewel-covered phone cases, Skinnydip London have even more lovable items to offer. I'm personally in love with their hard case clutches (£35-£40)...perspex, jewels and neon-pop colours- hitting several SS14 trends at once!

Anything from this brand would make the perfect gift for most fashion lovers out there (or even the perfect gift for, ahem, yourself?!). I assure you that this brand will be everywhere this summer!

And, it's not just about the bling! Check out this little cutie burger USB (£12) !!

Yummy Snack Alert- Fruit and Peanut Butter!

I'd been really bloated a few weeks back so decided to cut carbs from my diet for a week and see if this affected anything (it did, I lost 2 inches my stomach). Stuck on ideas for carb replacements I spoke to my boxer friend who recommended something that I'd never even considered before- sliced fruit with peanut butter!

Source: healthyaperture.com

I was a little pessimistic when first hearing but I was beyond wrong- its aaahhhmazing! Apple is my fave but banana is also really good! Experiment with your favourite fruits for a healthy and filling snack.

I'll be posting tips on how to cut carbs soon so keep an eye out! x

Jessie J x NTC: Wild Alive Workout

The Jessie J and Nike Training Club have decided to collaborate with a high intensity workout that has launched this week!

Jessie's 15 minute 'Wild Alive Workout' is exclusive to Nike, focusing on your lower body and getting your heart pumping. The app includes 5 drills (all repeated for a minute each over 3 rounds) that aim to build on muscular endurance, with one particular drill being extra-personal to the artist: the Jessie Drop Squat. This move takes inspiration from the singer's pre-stage warm up, which I don't know about you but I'd be rather intrigued to see!

REVIEW

It only felt right for me to test out the app before telling you ladies about it, so that's what I did... I enjoyed the boxing aspect of the first drill, simple double squats with air punches in between, but was worried that the workout might be a little too tame, as I wasn't out of breathe at all by the end of the first minute. The second drill requires space but picked up the heart rate some more and by the time the fourth drill came around I was wondering what the hell I'd gotten myself in to! The Squat to X-Jump is the worst- if your legs don't burn after this one I'm impressed! By the end of the third round my legs wanted to kill me and I have no doubt that I'll be aching tomorrow morning.

Probably not the best idea doing this workout after my morning gym session, but this is honestly one to try. It really does work your legs and lasting only 15 minutes you'll feel like you've had a full hour's session. So, my advice... Just Do It! Sorry, I had to.

Burning approximately 108 calories- that's 489 NikeFuel for all of you Fuel band lovers- the workout is available to download on the NTC app now. Find it under 'Get Toned' and 'Intermediate'.

Good Luck! xx

Brand Watch: UNIF

Say hello to UNIF!! I just can't get enough of this brand! Check my UNIF M.I.A Parka that I have practically lived in since buying it back in January. I've been complimented on this so many times but hardly anybody seems to recognise the name when I tell them...well now you do! Oh, and the removable fur means that I can continue to wear this beauty in to spring (and summer judging by the UK weather). Yay!!

Kirby Akindeinde (aka meeee) in the UNIF M.I.A Parka

Not the cheapest of brands and UNIF are pretty difficult to get hold of (your best bet is online at nastygal.com, nelly.com or the brand website) but the quality and uniqueness of their designs is definitely worth it! Here are some items from their current collection- from swimwear to dresses, I want to wear everything UNIF all summer long...

Happy (Healthy) Pancake Day!

Love pancakes but really don't want to break away from the healthy eating? Well don't worry, here are a few tips on how to make your pancakes not so fattening and still extra yum!

Tip One

Swap...        white flour                                                    whole milk                             butter
For...            whole-wheat flour (tons more fibre!)            skimmed milk                        oil

Tip Two

Add some fruit and/or nuts. Not only will they add extra flavour to the pancakes, they'll also make them a little more filling especially if you're having them for your main meal. I recommend strawberries (vitamin C and potassium), blueberries (great source of antioxidants) and raspberries (fibre and vitamin C)! Nuts will contribute healthy fats and fibre.

Tip Three

Don't miss out on the toppings!! That's the best part! Just be a little more considerate of how much you're putting on. Instead of spoonfuls of sugar try adding extra fresh lemon or orange juice or rather than half the jar of Nutella (no need to deny- it happens to the best of us!) try a smaller amount with extra strawberries!

Fruit is always a good topping, but if you really can't resist going for the bacon and treacle just be a little more considerate to how much you're putting on- it will still taste good with a smaller amount, promise!

                                                                                                                                                             Source: goodnessdirect.co.uk

Pancake Recipe

Or, for super healthy pancakes why not try the below recipe (thanks to weightlossresources.co.uk) ...

Ingredients to make 10 pancakes:

4oz/112g Plain Flour

2 Med Eggs

7fl oz/210 ml Semi Skimmed Milk

3fl oz/90 ml Water

20 sprays low cal Olive Oil Spray

Nutrition Information Per Pancake: Calories 66 (kcal); Protein 3.1; Fat 1.8 (g); Fibre 0.2 (g)

  1. Combine the milk and water
  2. Sift the flour into a bowl.
  3. Make a well in the middle and break the eggs into it.
  4. Begin whisking the eggs incorporating flour as you do so.
  5. Gradually add the milk and water mixture, still whisking, until all the liquid has been added and you have formed a smooth batter.
  6. Heat a frying pan over a high heat until hot.
  7. While the pan is heating,  measure 2 tbsp of batter into a ladle ready for making your first pancake (note how full the ladle is to avoid having to re-measure for further pancakes).
  8. Once the pan is hot, reduce heat to medium.
  9. Spray pan with 2 spray of oil per pancake.
  10. Add the pre measured batter mix to centre of pan, and tip from side to side to evenly coat the bottom.
  11. Check when edges become loose (about 20 seconds) and the batter has solidified, then with a pan slice, turn the pancake over.
  12. Cook the second side for few seconds.
  13. Remove from pan onto a plate and keep warm* whilst you make remaining pancakes.
*(Layer pancakes onto a plate with greaseproof paper between and place plate over a pan of simmering water).

Yum yum yum, I know that I can't wait to make mine! xx

Puma Discs- to buy or not to buy?

I'm not sure if you've come across the Puma Disc trainers yet but I'd really like to know what you think of them. I have to say that my first reaction wasn't a good one. Trainers with no laces just don't seem right, especially when they're replaced with some funny looking dial that isn't the most obvious how to work (clockwise is to tighten them I've now found out)! However, they soon started to grow on me and as soon as I came across the Puma Disc Tropicalia there was no question about it- they had to be mine.

The Tropicalia's not only the comfiest trainer I've ever worn, it also looks great too and with a design inspired by Brazilian rainforests they're sure to be a hit this summer.

                                                                                                                                                               Source: highsnobiety.com

I then decided to do my research and realised that the Tropicalia isn't the only Disc design that had me wanting to snap them up. The new Sophia Chang x Puma Disc Blaze 'Brooklynite' collection are just wow!!

I'd definitely recommend getting yourself a pair. They'll be on every blog/magazine/website this summer and we all like to be the first to be seen in something, right?

Bag yourself a pair at selected shoe shops including Offspring and Office. Available from £80.

P.S. if you're buying Puma's online I'd recommend that you get a size smaller- my size 5 feet fit perfectly into their 4's!
