Free Your Inner Queen- Buy A Headpiece!
Headpieces are the must-have item this summer. They're everywhere, which usually I hate. But there's so many to choose from that with this trend that it really doesn't matter. In fact, I'm starting to feel a little bit competitive with my headpiece collection... from tiaras to feathers, I have them all! Here are my top tips on how to wear and where to find the perfect one for you!
Let's start with the feathers. I've been addicted to the tribal look from young so you can only imagine my excitement when one of my closest friends (also known as my personal styling guru) bought me this embellished baby pink feather headband. Forget men, when it comes to love at first sight this is the one. I almost don't want to tell you where it's from but that would defeat the point, so head to Accessorize for this little beauty. If you're keen on tribal or hippy style, feathers are for you and even better when they're embellished. I'm wearing mine with oversized vests and shorts, or jeans if it gets a little nippy. Adding a leather jacket will toughen this up, just maybe give the cowboy boots a miss or you may find yourself being mistaken for fancy dress...
Introducing my number one headpiece, the feather dream.
Next up is the jeweled number. When it comes to jewels I always either stick to the one statement gem or go absolutely crazy, as with this ASOS headpiece below. If you really want to make an entrance then there's no doubt that this is the one to go for. The headpiece that may as well be your outfit the night. Keep the clothes simple and let your gems do the talking! Sparkle sparkle sparkle.
Now, this is the one for the ultimate diva- the tiara! I have to admit that mine hasn't yet left my room and is currently acting as a nice decorative addition. I'm slightly scared that I'll be mistaken as being ten years younger than I actually am, which happens often enough even without the tiara and is something I'd quite like to avoid for now. However, my birthday celebrations are commencing this weekend, so that may just have to change when birthday Kirbs makes an appearance. I bought the Topshop gold and beige tiara a few months ago but noticed that Zara have a beautiful pearl one that's just come in. Calling all daring girls, this one's for you!
Pssst. You have to be careful with this piece, as it is a little OTT and I must say that it isn't for everyone. Think lots of black, smokey eyes, leather and a hint of glitter somewhere else in the outfit.
Looking for the perfect design that isn't being worn by everyone else? Try Ebay or ASOS Marketplace for one-off pieces. Headpiece queens, let the games commence! xx
Motel Rocks... and I Love Lemons
I thought I'd start back my blogging with a special post for cutie British brand Motel. You may have seen my last post for them (click me if you missed it!) where I promised to show you all how I styled the Motel Lemonade Scoop Back Bodice. Well, here it finally is...
I decided to keep it simple, as the bodice really does speak for itself but if you're wearing this around London town I'd suggest that you add some shorts... As much as we like to think that we all live in LA, unfortunately we don't. High waist denim would be ideal! However, here's my take on the bodice, editorial style.

Motel Rocks!!!
We all know about my swimwear obsession. It’s no secret and if it was I’d be doing a rubbish job of keeping it that way. Any excuse to wear a bikini or swimsuit and I’m there. Not because I love to be at the beach- which I do, that’s just not the reason- but simply because there’s an edge to swimwear that other clothes just seem to lack.
I’m particular about my swimwear and any old bikini won’t cut it. It has to be edgy, it has to be noticeable, it has to be me. I’ll search for hours for the perfect piece and enjoy the hunt, but it didn’t take me long to come across this season’s Motel swim collection.
A tankini top with space print? Yes please! Bikinis with multiple strap detail? Be mine now!! High waist leopard… until I’m not even in the swim section anymore and my basket’s getting fuller and fuller. You get the picture- Motel Rocks! So you can only imagine my excitement when they asked me to collaborate with them and style up pieces from their new season collection! Yeoowww (there I go again, getting all excited).
First up I chose the super sweet Queenie Mesh Panel Swim Suit to style and give inspo to all you lovely ladies for the hot summer ahead (we pray)! I love my jewelled headpiece and it works great with the Queenie one piece. The swimsuit's really simple and toughened up with the low scoop back and mesh inserts it's the perfect item to match with statement jewellery. Whether you'll be sipping cocktails by the pool or hitting the local beach party, just add a kimono and you're good to go.
(Try tying the kimono around your waist and adding wellies for a great festival look!)
And you don't just have to lounge around on the beach or by the pool in this swimsuit- team with an oversized tee or high waist shorts for a more sporty look. I threw on this oversized mesh top from ASOS and a pair of Vans plimsolls and was ready to transfer from beach to skate park in no time!
Watch out for how I styled up the Motel Lemonade Ballerina Scoop Back Body coming soon. xxx
I Wear Boys' Pants
I'm obsessed with menswear, I really am. In fact, I'm that crazy about it that I like to wear men's clothes as part of my everyday outfits. It's not for everyone, I agree. But lets face it, we've all stolen our boyfriend's hoodie, tee or sweatshirt at some point... right?!
Men's clothing can make your outfit look effortlessly cool whilst also being super duper comfortable. It's also really simple to wear and is perfect when teamed with more feminine pieces (see my crop top and boys jeans below)! So grab the oversized tee, baggy pants or baseball shirt and show these boys how their clothes should really be worn! I've given it a damn good go myself below.. xx

Say hello to the Nike X Liberty Collection...
Today is the day. Nike and Liberty have collaborated once again and the collection has dropped just in time for summer. The Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Dunk Sky Hi, Roshe Run, Blazer and even the Nike Internationalist have all had a blossom-filled makeover, taking inspiration from floral artwork of the past (there's clothes too)! You can even see the history of each print by clicking through to the Liberty website.
Personally, I'm not a 'flowery' type of girl but I can't deny that this collection is super super superrr cute! I'm particularly loving the styles for men (a man who can wear floral? Please come and say hi?!!). Anyway... ladies and gents, have a little look for yourself below xx
It's Getting A Little Hot In Here...
...because there are a lot of super babes floating around at the moment and I'm crushing on them all!! So I've decided to show my fellow ladies some love and will be pleasing your eyes with the cutest, most beautiful and of course most stylish girls right here each month (or maybe even more regularly if I get over-excited with all the hotness)!
My first post is dedicated to the stunning Miss Mimi Elashiry. With festival (and holiday) season just around the corner, it's time to take some inspo from this stylish Australian honeybee. Say hello to Tigeress Mimi... xx

NO POOL? NO PROBLEM!
Living in the UK it's not everyday that you get to hit the water and when you do it's pretty damn cold! But with so much beautiful swimwear out there, it's hard to resist adding another piece to the wardrobe... well, for some of us anyway. I've explained previously about my swimwear fascination and have resulted in wearing my swimsuits and bikinis as a part of my everyday outfits. I was beginning to think that maybe I'm a little mad. That maybe my swimwear obsession really was an addiction. That was until Nasty Gal assured me otherwise. 'No pool? No problem', they say. Wooohooo!!!
Here's a little inspo on how you can wear swimwear...everywhere! xxx

The end of Nike Fuel?
Opening my emails this morning, I was surprised to see that Nike are reducing their FuelBand efforts. When previously working with Nike the FuelBands seemed to be a major push from the brand. I guess for Nike they're great. Number one, they're the first company to launch anything like this and gain any real notice- sporting innovation at it's best. Number two, they make the consumer connect with Nike app- more opportunity for them to tempt you with other purchases and simply become more involved with the brand. And number three, you don't just have to wear the FuelBand to the gym. For my first few weeks of owning a FuelBand, I wore it every hour of every day. Think of how many people you encounter on a daily basis. That ever-so-popular little Nike tick jingling on your wrist- marketing genius! But what was I gaining from the band?
Fair enough, I could track my energy usage each day, which did become a little obsessive! Strangely, the band made me feel good. It made me feel that if I wore it, it automatically meant that I was looking after my health, which I do. But do I really need a little black (or clear) bracelet to assure me of that? All in all, I really didn't know how to use the band effectively and as a result my FuelBand simply became nothing more than a watch- a watch that needed charging every week.
I love Nike and I'd buy pretty much all of the store if I could. But I think that the main problem with the FuelBands is that people simply just don't have the time. I'm obsessed with fitness and fashion and even more so when they're combined. But even I didn't have the time to learn how to get the most out of my band. Maybe I should learn how to use it properly and come back to you then. Or perhaps I should have done that back in January when I first got my hands on a band. At the end of the day, I think that Nike have made the right decision. (Although it does upset me to think that realistically I'll never get my hands on the limited edition rose gold FuelBand that has been on my mind for a while. It's just so cute!!)
So what do you think? Has the Nike FuelBand, well, run out of fuel?
As Promised...
A couple of days ago I posted a preview from my shoot with talented UK-based photographer Tom O'Neill. A sports chic shoot where I got to hang out in some super comfy harem pants... ahhhhmazing! So, as promised, here are the final images from the day... (p.s. take a look at the rest of Tom's work at www.tomoneill.dphoto.com) Enjoy xxx
Mary Katrantzou x Adidas
Sports Luxe collabs are popping up everywhere this spring, meaning that my bank balance is going to be a little worst for ware and hey, it will definitely be worth it!! But it doesn't stop there. Adidas are collaborating yet again and this time it's with designer sweetheart of summer 2011, Mary Katrantzou. The collection is set to drop this November, meaning that our sports-inspired items will definitely still be acceptable come winter... yayyy!!
Previously collaborating with Topshop (which was just great I must add), Katrantzou's signature designs will be available once again to those of us who simply have a little less cash, and what better way to do so than through sports chic!
Katrantzou and Adidas from day to night and even to the gym? I think I might just explode with colour pop and print excitement and these gorgeous ladies look rather happy about it too...
Sports Luxe Fashion Shoot- sneak preview!
Yesterday I shot with super talented fellow Northerner Tom O'Neill and guess what... I got to channel my all time favourite look, sports luxe! The full images from the shoot will be ready in the next couple of weeks but here's a little preview for now xx
News Just In... Alexander Wang X H&M!
Yeeee!!!! I am beyond excited to see the Alexander Wang X H&M collection that was announced last night via Wang's new Instagram account alexanderwangny. The post showed a digital countdown to 'Wang X H&M' on a basketball scoreboard... sports-inspired fashion range coming our way? We hope so! xx
Source: iconol.gy
What do we want? N.L.P! When do we want it? NOW!
With Mercedes Benz Fashion Week hitting Australia our Instagram feeds are being spammed with Aus style- and we can't get enough!! The weather in Britain is nothing compared to our across-the-world friends, meaning that us Brits are missing out on big time on some amazing swim and beachwear brands and N.L.P is one of them!
Founded by Australian designer Nikki Lee Penny, N.L.P is killing the sports-luxe swimwear trend. Last seasons designs are available at Selfridges if you're lucky enough to find your size but as soon as I saw the new range I needed to add it to my growing swimwear collection (taking 12 bikinis on my last 6 day vacation and still leaving an entire drawer full at home...). So you can imagine my disappointment when I found that the new range currently isn't available in the UK. Boooo!!!! In all honesty, the fact that I can't have it has made me want it even more and no doubt I'll be desperately searching Google each day until I find somewhere that ships to England. But for now I'll have to do with dreamily admiring the latest from N.L.P online, along with many other items that exist only in my virtual wardrobe. Have a look for yourself and see what you think.
I'm desperate to get my hands on one of these fiery little sets so let's make some noise! What do we want? N.L.P to Britain! When do we want it? NOW! (Well, in time for summer would be just fine)... xx
Adidas Originals' SS14 Brazilian Collaboration
If the Topshop x Adidas Originals collection wasn't quite enough excitement for one week, the Adidas Originals Brazilian collaboration launches TODAY!! The sports fashion giants have collaborated with Brazilian fashion brand The Farm Company to create a collection that will blur the lines between sportswear and street style. Get a feel for the collection below! xx
Topshop x Adidas Originals
Topshop have collaborated with Adidas Originals to launch a 20 piece collection available online and in-store now! The collection was launched two days ago and some items have already completely sold out. Ebay is going to be a busy little sports fashion bee for the next couple of weeks! I love the cutie hearts and cartoon graffiti splattered across the range and the colour scheme is definitely a winner.
Have a peek at some of my faves below and be sure to check out the full collection in any large Topshop store! xx
First Shoot of Spring
About 10 minutes ago I received the images from my shoot with the very talented photographer Saheed Abdul and I just couldn't wait to share them with you! This sports fashion inspired shoot is my first location shoot of Spring. Check out the images below...
I'll be working with Saheed again very soon and I'm beyond excited. As always I'll make sure to post the results up here! Saheed's work can be viewed at iamhelios5th.tumblr.com xx
Brand Watch: Skinnydip London
You may or may not recognise the Skinnydip London name, but chances are that you will have seen some of their products floating around the high street! Best known for their hard-to-ignore jewel-covered phone cases, Skinnydip London have even more lovable items to offer. I'm personally in love with their hard case clutches (£35-£40)...perspex, jewels and neon-pop colours- hitting several SS14 trends at once!
Anything from this brand would make the perfect gift for most fashion lovers out there (or even the perfect gift for, ahem, yourself?!). I assure you that this brand will be everywhere this summer!
And, it's not just about the bling! Check out this little cutie burger USB (£12) !!
Available to buy at skinnydiplondon.com, Topshop, River Island and ASOS.
Brand Watch: UNIF
Say hello to UNIF!! I just can't get enough of this brand! Check my UNIF M.I.A Parka that I have practically lived in since buying it back in January. I've been complimented on this so many times but hardly anybody seems to recognise the name when I tell them...well now you do! Oh, and the removable fur means that I can continue to wear this beauty in to spring (and summer judging by the UK weather). Yay!!
Kirby Akindeinde (aka meeee) in the UNIF M.I.A Parka
Not the cheapest of brands and UNIF are pretty difficult to get hold of (your best bet is online at nastygal.com, nelly.com or the brand website) but the quality and uniqueness of their designs is definitely worth it! Here are some items from their current collection- from swimwear to dresses, I want to wear everything UNIF all summer long...
Puma Discs- to buy or not to buy?
I'm not sure if you've come across the Puma Disc trainers yet but I'd really like to know what you think of them. I have to say that my first reaction wasn't a good one. Trainers with no laces just don't seem right, especially when they're replaced with some funny looking dial that isn't the most obvious how to work (clockwise is to tighten them I've now found out)! However, they soon started to grow on me and as soon as I came across the Puma Disc Tropicalia there was no question about it- they had to be mine.
The Tropicalia's not only the comfiest trainer I've ever worn, it also looks great too and with a design inspired by Brazilian rainforests they're sure to be a hit this summer.

I then decided to do my research and realised that the Tropicalia isn't the only Disc design that had me wanting to snap them up. The new Sophia Chang x Puma Disc Blaze 'Brooklynite' collection are just wow!!
I'd definitely recommend getting yourself a pair. They'll be on every blog/magazine/website this summer and we all like to be the first to be seen in something, right?

Bag yourself a pair at selected shoe shops including Offspring and Office. Available from £80.
P.S. if you're buying Puma's online I'd recommend that you get a size smaller- my size 5 feet fit perfectly into their 4's!
PREVIEW!! London College of Fashion Sports Fashion Shoot
Watch out for my sports fashion shoot for London College of Fashion emerging talent later this week. All official images to be released soon but see below for a sneak peak behind the scene preview! x
Back to the Future for Nike
Technological fashion hasn't always been the best of looks- think heat reactive t-shirts that basically just tell the world how sweaty you are or those 'outfit-in-a-can' fabrics that expect you to spray on your wardrobe each morning. Luckily, it looks like things might be about to change...
Sports fashion leaders Nike are rumoured to be releasing a product that will cause a stir across the industry. Remember those shoes with self-tying laces that were seen in Back to the Future? Well, those bad boys could be yours in 2015.
Having a similar look to the Nike Huarache (which we quite frankly adore right now!), these space-inspired trainers are sure to be a hit. With Nike's usual trick of limited availability, if you fancy yourself a pair you'll have to be quick!

Headpieces are the must-have item this summer. They're everywhere, which usually I hate. But there's so many to choose from that with this trend that it really doesn't matter. In fact, I'm starting to feel a little bit competitive with my headpiece collection... from tiaras to feathers, I have them all! Forget men, when it comes to love at first sight this is the one. I almost don't want to tell you where it's from but that would defeat the point, so head to Accessorize for this little beauty. Introducing my number one headpiece, the feather dream.
Next up is the jeweled number. When it comes to jewels I always either stick to the one statement gem or go absolutely crazy, as with this ASOS headpiece below.
Yeeee!!!! I am beyond excited to see the Alexander Wang X H&M collection that was announced last night via Wang's new Instagram account alexanderwangny. The post showed a digital countdown to 'Wang X H&M' on a basketball scoreboard... sports-inspired fashion range coming our way? We hope so! xx

Yay!!
Kirby Akindeinde (aka meeee) in the UNIF M.I.A Parka |
Not the cheapest of brands and UNIF are pretty difficult to get hold of (your best bet is online at nastygal.com, nelly.com or the brand website) but the quality and uniqueness of their designs is definitely worth it! Here are some items from their current collection- from swimwear to dresses, I want to wear everything UNIF all summer long...

LESTALKER.COM
Check out my shoot for www.lestalker.com - the new fashion website run by the talented Amy Limor (who, by the way, is definitely a young lady to watch out for in the film and fashion scene). This fresh new site posts about undiscovered fashion talent, from models to designers to fashion enthusiasts, so if you really want to be ahead of the game go and have a look to find some names that are soon be on everybody's tongues.
Enjoy! x
