Immunity Food for Party Animals
Firstly, I must apologise once again for the lack of posts on Tigeresslifestyle recently. It's been a super busy period for me lately but I'll be back in full blogger mode soon so don't you worry!!
I'm heading to Glastonbury this week and I'm so so excited! However, I'm also a teenie weenie bit worried that I'm going to be ill after 5 full days of partying hard (then there's the ASOS summer party and Wireless to be prepared for next week so I really must maintain top form)! So, I decided it would be great for me to blog about the top foods for immunity- that will hopefully keep me and all of you other party animals or busy go-getters fuelled and ready to tackle any festival, rave or nagging manager that heads your way. Here goes...
1. Coconuts. Because they're rich in lauric acid, which converts in your body to monolaurin. Monolaurin is the actual compound found in breast milk that strengthens a baby’s immunity. If it's good enough to protect cutie little newborns then it's good enough for us.
2. Blueberries. Lower in sugar than most other fruits and full of phytochemicals, such as anthocyanin, which is what gives blueberries their colour blueberries are the ultimate immunity fruit! They also have a very high in antioxidant capacity compared to other fruits and vegetables and not to forget they taste yum too- woohoo!
3. Mushrooms. Most of my friends don't like mushrooms but I don't understand why. Personally I find them yum yum yum so I was super happy to find out that they strengthen my immune system too! They're rich in protein, fibre, Vitamin C and minerals. Forget eat your greens- eat your mushrooms!!
4. Garlic. Antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial. I don't really need to say any more. Just perhaps don't indulge right before a hot date...
5. Pro-biotic Yoghurt. Good bacteria to help keep disease-causing germs away from our gut and intestinal tract. Eat for breakfast, snacks or even dessert.
6. Tea. Served black. I hate tea (please don't hate me), but I know that there's plenty of you out there who love it sooo drink up guys because apparently it's fighting viruses! P.S. Get up to five times more antioxidants from your tea bags by bobbing them up and down while you brew. Who knew!
7. Carrots. High in carotene, super cheap and easy to eat in several different ways (raw, mashed, boiled or even roasted). Say no more.
It's time to eat/ drink up party animals, workaholics and general health obsessives like myself. Germs come at us, we're fully prepared!
I'll be back next week after Glastonbury with more lifestyle posts so keep checking back for fashion, fitness and health inspiration xx

Wheyhey! The Ice Cream That Is Good For You!
Summer is a great time to get healthy. Think fresh fruit, home made smoothies, Greek salad, ice cold water and... uhh, ice cream?
Wheyhey is a brand new brand that are making ice cream the healthy way. Made with high quality protein, zero sugar and all natural ingredients, you'd think that things couldn't get much better. They do. The ice cream is also low in fat, whilst being both carbs and gluten free. It's even suitable for vegetarians and diabetics.
The mini 22g pots are the perfect guilt-free alternative to your usual ice cream or unhealthy snacks. Wheyhey is not only great for a post workout protein top-up but it's also good for anyone who is simply wanting to watch their weight or lead a healthy lifestyle. I'm a bit (a lot) of a snacker myself, so this is the perfect find for me.
The Science Part
Protein is made up of amino acids, 9 of which are essential. This basically means that the body can't produce them itself- the only way that we can get them is through the food and drink that we consume. They help your body to repair and develop bone and muscle tissue, repair vital cells and also, to support the endocrine system (the one that takes care of all of your hormones)!
Whey Protein Isolate is what Wheyhey is made out of (hence the name), which is 100% natural, great for your body, easily digested and absorbed super quickly by our systems. What's more, it contains all 9 of the essential amino acids! Find out a little more about the science behind Wheyhey here.
I've tried the vanilla and strawberry flavours so far and I wasn't disappointed at all! Now I just have chocolate left to tick off of my list... There's also natural, blueberry and coconut push up frozen yoghurt pops coming soon too!
So, what do you think? An ice cream that we don't need to feel guilty about. In fact, an ice cream that we can actually feel good about. I'd say that this one's a winner all round... Wheyhey!!! (sorry, I couldn't help myself) xx
Hot Girls Drink (Healthy) Cocktails!!
Summer's just about here and things are hotting up, including you! Glowing summer skin, sun-bleached hair and of course the cutest summer outfits. In fact, things are getting that hot that even the coolest of summer honeys need, well, cooling down... and what better way to do so than with an ice cold cocktail? An ice cold healthy cocktail, perhaps?!
If any of you follow me on Instagram (@kirbyanne) I'm sure that you soon realised that I'm a little obsessed with cocktails. Take me on a cocktail date and I'm yours forever. I particularly enjoy the ones that are topped with sweets, fresh fruit or anything else that's edible- even better if they're frozen too!! Everyone has there own cocktail preference and if you say that you don't like them, well I'm sorry but you're lying. Either that or you need me to take you to the best cocktail spots because quite frankly, there's something out there for everyone.
Anyway, my cocktail obsession is ruining my usually healthy lifestyle. Some cocktails may taste refreshingly healthy but they're no better for you than gobbling down a packet of sweets. So I decided that enough is enough and went on the hunt for the healthiest cocktails around. Here's my pick of the bunch...
Size Zero @ Foundation Bar, Covent Garden
This low-calorie cocktail is less than 100 calories, so the more the merrier I say (literally)! Mixed with vodka, limes, cucumber, ginger and honey, there's absolutely no need to feel guilty and the venue just adds to the experience. Foundation bar is a winner and if you visit between 5 and 7.30pm on a week night you'll get this cocktail with 50% off!
Watermelon Mojito @ Jewel Piccadilly
At 115 calories (that's less than a slimline G&T!) and enough watermelon to count as one of your 5 a day, this cocktail is one of the healthiest out there. A fruity twist on the classic mojito!
Skinny Ginny @ Giraffe
Bombay sapphire gin with cucumber, apple and agave. For all you gin lovers out there!
Skinny Minnie Cocktails from Drake & Morgan
Drake and Morgan are looking after their health-concious customers by offering super skinny cocktails at each of their five London locations. Why not try the 150 calorie Skinny Pornstar Martini Cariel Vodka, passion fruit & a prosecco chaser YUM!!!!!! Or, if you're not feeling quite like a pornstar (sorry, I giggled at myself a little bit then) go for a 150 calorie Skinny Superfood Collins with Gin Mare, which contains fresh basil, raspberries, blackberries, agave & fresh lemon juice served long with soda.

The Grapefruit Crush from Tide and Thyme
1 1/2 grapefruits, juiced

Top Tip!!
Not quite feeling the 'skinny' cocktail on the menu? Look for a tequila-based drink! Tequila not only dissolves fats and reduces levels of cholesterol, but it’s the only spirit proven to make you happier. A nice excuse to go for a drink if you ask me!
Yummy Snack Alert- Fruit and Peanut Butter
I'd been really bloated a few weeks back so decided to cut carbs from my diet for a week and see if this affected anything (it did, I lost 2 inches my stomach). Stuck on ideas for carb replacements I spoke to my boxer friend who recommended something that I'd never even considered before- sliced fruit with peanut butter!

I was a little pessimistic when first hearing but I was beyond wrong- its aaahhhmazing! Apple is my fave but banana is also really good! Experiment with your favourite fruits for a healthy and filling snack.

Yummy Snack Alert- Frozen Grapes!
Whether it's around 4pm when the end of work is in sight but not quite close enough or mid evening when dinner seems like a million hours ago, we all get cravings. I in particular, have a very bad habit for reaching for that secret box of sweets that's kept under my bed (yes, I admitted it!!). But, I decided enough is enough and have replaced my secret- or not so secret- sweetie stash with a cupboard full of... wait for it... healthy treats!
Each week I'll be posting the best healthy snacks to beat those annoying little between-meal cravings.
So, my first snack to be featured is frozen grapes. You might not of heard of this one before but I promise that you won't be disappointed. How to prepare? Simply pop some your grapes in the freezer, wait a few hours, then snack away whenever you like. The best thing about this snack is that it won't expire. Frozen grapes are surprisingly nice, almost like sweets and sorbet rolled into one healthy little ice ball.
Give them a try and let me know what you think! x
London Cocktail Club
Sooo I know that I'm supposed to post about nutritious food and drink here but I just couldn't resist letting you know about this cocktail bar... besides, everyone needs a treat sometimes, right?!
Anyway, I stumbled across the London Cocktail Club when out with a friend last week after noticing the '2 for 1 All Night' sign outside. 'All Night'? Yep, that's right and no I hadn't been drinking too much in the previous bar... all night it was and oh how we made the most of it. I loved it that much that I had to visit again this week and my girls were in awe.
The cocktails here are literally amazing. There's Movie Night, which comes in a cocktail bag with popcorn, my personal fave Jam Jar Daiquiri (that the bar tender snook some sweets on to for us) and some of the cocktails were even on fire! Going in a group? Try Skull Candy- this ones comes in a giant skull glass with marshmallows.
Pornstar Martini (comes with a shot of champagne!) |

Monkey Nuts |
French Martini and Jam Jar Daiquiri |

P.S. I'd also recommend the Pornstar Martini- to dieeee for!! x
