The end for Nike Fuel?

Opening my emails this morning, I was surprised to see that Nike are reducing their FuelBand efforts. When previously working with Nike the FuelBands seemed to be a major push from the brand. I guess for Nike they're great. Number one, they're the first company to launch anything like this and gain any real notice- sporting innovation at it's best. Number two, they make the consumer connect with Nike app- more opportunity for them to tempt you with other purchases and simply become more involved with the brand. And number three, you don't just have to wear the FuelBand to the gym. For my first few weeks of owning a FuelBand, I wore it every hour of every day. Think of how many people you encounter on a daily basis. That ever-so-popular little Nike tick jingling on your wrist- marketing genius! But what was I gaining from the band?

Fair enough, I could track my energy usage each day, which did become a little obsessive! Strangely, the band made me feel good. It made me feel that if I wore it, it automatically meant that I was looking after my health, which I do. But do I really need a little black (or clear) bracelet to assure me of that? All in all, I really didn't know how to use the band effectively and as a result my FuelBand simply became nothing more than a watch- a watch that needed charging every week.

I love Nike and I'd buy pretty much all of the store if I could. But I think that the main problem with the FuelBands is that people simply just don't have the time. I'm obsessed with fitness and fashion and even more so when they're combined. But even I didn't have the time to learn how to get the most out of my band. Maybe I should learn how to use it properly and come back to you then. Or perhaps I should have done that back in January when I first got my hands on a band. At the end of the day, I think that Nike have made the right decision. (Although it does upset me to think that realistically I'll never get my hands on the limited edition rose gold FuelBand that has been on my mind for a while. It's just so cute!!)

So what do you think? Has the Nike FuelBand, well, run out of fuel?

Nike NTC Week

The end of January saw Nike's NTC Week (that's Nike Training Club for those of you who didn't hear!) hit down in London and damn did it get us sweating! From boxing clubs to rave sessions and secret yoga classes (followed by a super tasty three course meal I must say!!) this full week dedicated to workouts for women contained enough fitness excitement to last us the year... well, not quite, but definitely enough to work off those mince pies!

I was lucky enough to work with the Nike and Orillo team to produce the NTC Week promo video and campaign images and guess what, they are finally out in Niketown London! Have a little look below for images posted throughout the week....

Also, if you're around Oxford Street, make sure to pop into Niketown to see the pictures up in-store. Here's one of me mid-workout!

The activities and classes took place across London in a variety of fun and even hidden locations. If you like the look be sure to sign up to the next one. As soon as I'm informed about the date I'll let you guys know, so keep checking back! x

WE OWN THE NIGHT, Nike- Yes, we do!!

After weeks of my flatmates raving about the Nike We Own the Night 10k run, I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about. As much as I love my sport and fitness (and believe me I train hard), longer runs have never really appealed to me. In all honesty, I'm much more of a sprint kind of girl. Well, that's what I thought...

So with all the excitement flying around the house I decided that it was time for me to sign up. How could I possibly go along to cheer the girls on and not actually take part? I simply couldn't! And besides, I love the feeling after a good workout and this would definitely be one.

The run, in association with Elle UK, takes place in London's Victoria Park on May 10th (and in four other locations across May and June including Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin and Milan). Starting at 8pm, the run- as the title suggests- takes place at night. With glowing (free) t-shirts to run in we will literally be lighting up and owning the night! What's more you finish the run to a giant, well, rave... that's if you've got any energy left! Have a little look here

Still not convinced? I think that the free goody bag will change your mind. Everybody who enters the race will be given a Nike t-shirt along with other surprise gifts and to everyone who takes part on the day, you'll be given an exclusive Nike WOTN necklace designed by iconic London jewellery designer Alex Monroe in a Liberty print box. (I know that some of you girls will probably be running just to nab the necklace- don't worry, I won't tell)!

Not already signed up? If love a good long run then this is definitely for you! And, if you don't... this is also for you!! This isn't a competition, it's a chance for us girls to get together and have some fun whilst improving our fitness at the same time! You can run at whatever pace you like and I know that running with my girls means that there will be a few (hundred) giggles on the way round. Sign up now at http://www.nike.com/gb/en_gb/c/running/we-own-the-night.

See you there! xx

Mary Katrantzou x Adidas

Sports Luxe collabs are popping up everywhere this spring, meaning that my bank balance is going to be a little worst for ware and hey, it will definitely be worth it!! But it doesn't stop there. Adidas are collaborating yet again and this time it's with designer sweetheart of summer 2011, Mary Katrantzou. The collection is set to drop this November, meaning that our sports-inspired items will definitely still be acceptable come winter... yayyy!!

Previously collaborating with Topshop (which was just great I must add), Katrantzou's signature designs will be available once again to those of us who simply have a little less cash, and what better way to do so than through sports chic!

Katrantzou and Adidas from day to night and even to the gym? I think I might just explode with colour pop and print excitement and these gorgeous ladies look rather happy about it too...

News Just In... Alexander Wang X H&M!

Yeeee!!!! I am beyond excited to see the Alexander Wang X H&M collection that was announced last night via Wang's new Instagram account alexanderwangny. The post showed a digital countdown to 'Wang X H&M' on a basketball scoreboard... sports-inspired fashion range coming our way? We hope so! xx

What do we want? N.L.P! When do we want it? NOW!

With Mercedes Benz Fashion Week hitting Australia our Instagram feeds are being spammed with Aus style- and we can't get enough!! The weather in Britain is nothing compared to our across-the-world friends, meaning that us Brits are missing out big time on some amazing swim and beachwear brands and N.L.P is one of them!

Founded by Australian designer Nikki Lee Penny, N.L.P is killing the sports-luxe swimwear trend. Last seasons designs are available at Selfridges if you're lucky enough to find your size but as soon as I saw the new range I needed to add it to my growing swimwear collection (taking 12 bikinis on my last 6 day vacation and still leaving an entire drawer full at home...). So you can imagine my disappointment when I found that the new range currently isn't available in the UK. Boooo!!!! In all honesty, the fact that I can't have it has made me want it even more and no doubt I'll be desperately searching Google each day until I find somewhere that ships to England. But for now I'll have to do with dreamily admiring the latest from N.L.P online, along with many other items that exist only in my virtual wardrobe. Have a look for yourself and see what you think.

Hello again..!!

Aghh, so I haven't posted in a while, as I'm a super busy bee at the moment! However, I have just travelled to the beautiful country of Cyprus so thought that I'd share some of my visits/sights/stunning little finds with you...

I'm a regularly visitor to this breath-taking island so if you're planning on visiting the country I have a few places that you MUST visit, no excuses!

If you're travelling to the southern side you definitely need to give Paphos a visit- this is a tourist destination without the tack of the usual. For cocktails visit Mare Mare, Suite 48 or Muse. You can watch the sun set over the sea at all three! Here's some cocktails and ahhh mascot view that I enjoyed at Suite 48 (and sunset view above)...

If you're eating in Paphos again I would recommend Muse for extra large extra yummy meals at reasonable prices. The selection for starters, mains and desserts is great- but I doubt you'll manage all three! I could list a fare few places to eat in Paphos but to save the boredom here are my top 5...

1. Muse for a variety of dishes from chicken to fish to super duper size salads! Muse has it all! (Their waffles for dessert are highly recommended).
2. Porto Bella for amazing Italian food.
3. Fat Mamas! Again, the portions are huge and I'm not complaining. Try Italian from Fat Mama and Mexican-American from Cowboy Willy, both in the same restaurant with table-side entertainment (dancers, singers... you get the gist).
4. La Tarverna. Beautiful- mainly meats and fish the food here is to die for.
5. Phuket for the best Thai cuisine everrrr!

If you're looking for adventure make sure you hire a speed boat and drive to the Blue Lagoon. I'm not one for swimming too much because I have some crazy obsession that I'll be eaten by a shark, but the water here is clear and inviting. Even I managed to have a good few hours playing.

For the northern side of the Island, please visit Nissi Beach! One of the most beautiful beaches I've been to with golden sands and sparkling turquoise seas. You'll even find pelicans wondering the beach.

I'm no expert of food and drink here so I would hate to give you some made up information and send you merrily on your way to get food poisoning somewhere, but if you are visiting the island here are some top designations that are worth a trip:

1. Paphos
2. Limassol
3. Nicosia
4.Ayia Napa (although if like myself you're a little grown out of partying here stick to the Nissi beach side!)
5. Troodos Mountains

On that note, I'll leave you with my little tush trying to do pull ups at the side of the boat... and failing! xx
