Firstly, I must apologise once again for the lack of posts on Tigeresslifestyle recently. It's been a super busy period for me lately but I'll be back in full blogger mode soon so don't you worry!!
I'm heading to Glastonbury this week and I'm so so excited! However, I'm also a teenie weenie bit worried that I'm going to be ill after 5 full days of partying hard (then there's the ASOS summer party and Wireless to be prepared for next week so I really must maintain top form)! So, I decided it would be great for me to blog about the top foods for immunity- that will hopefully keep me and all of you other party animals or busy go-getters fuelled and ready to tackle any festival, rave or nagging manager that heads your way. Here goes...
1. Coconuts. Because they're rich in lauric acid, which converts in your body to monolaurin. Monolaurin is the actual compound found in breast milk that strengthens a baby’s immunity. If it's good enough to protect cutie little newborns then it's good enough for us.
2. Blueberries. Lower in sugar than most other fruits and full of phytochemicals, such as anthocyanin, which is what gives blueberries their colour blueberries are the ultimate immunity fruit! They also have a very high in antioxidant capacity compared to other fruits and vegetables and not to forget they taste yum too- woohoo!
3. Mushrooms. Most of my friends don't like mushrooms but I don't understand why. Personally I find them yum yum yum so I was super happy to find out that they strengthen my immune system too! They're rich in protein, fibre, Vitamin C and minerals. Forget eat your greens- eat your mushrooms!!
4. Garlic. Antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial. I don't really need to say any more. Just perhaps don't indulge right before a hot date...
5. Pro-biotic Yoghurt. Good bacteria to help keep disease-causing germs away from our gut and intestinal tract. Eat for breakfast, snacks or even dessert.
6. Tea. Served black. I hate tea (please don't hate me), but I know that there's plenty of you out there who love it sooo drink up guys because apparently it's fighting viruses! P.S. Get up to five times more antioxidants from your tea bags by bobbing them up and down while you brew. Who knew!
7. Carrots. High in carotene, super cheap and easy to eat in several different ways (raw, mashed, boiled or even roasted). Say no more.
It's time to eat/ drink up party animals, workaholics and general health obsessives like myself. Germs come at us, we're fully prepared!
I'll be back next week after Glastonbury with more lifestyle posts so keep checking back for fashion, fitness and health inspiration xx
